Edwin Ludick

Managing Director

Professional background: Edwin joined Chemserve as a Human Resources Manager in 1991, was appointed to its Executive Committee in 2008 and to its Board in January 2010. He joined AECI’s Executive Committee later in 2010. Edwin has served as Managing Director at four companies in the specialty chemicals cluster and as Chairman of several others. He is currently also a member of the Specialty Chemicals Executive Committee. He has a BCom (Hons) degree from UNISA.

Rafael Fernandes

Executive Director: Finance

Professional background: B Com Hons Accounting (University of Pretoria), ACMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK), CA (Chartered Accountant, SA).

Role: To provide leadership through empowering of finance and IT employees, to deliver an environment to support the financial and management decision making process. Continuous monitoring and adoption of appropriate controls to ensure good corporate governance.

Wayne Du Chenne

Executive Director: Southern Africa

Professional background: MBA, has experience on the ground in Africa and has a service orientation towards mining customers.

Role: Responsible for the Southern African footprint, heading up a portfolio comprising businesses servicing the surface and underground mining markets as well as industrial customers. Wayne’s portfolio also includes Mining Optimisation and Global Marketing & Communications.

Paul Eagar

Executive: Operations

Professional background: Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical), Bachelor of Cmmerce (B.Com) and a Master of Business Leadership (MBL).

Role: To develop and implement strategic plans to increase efficiency and effectiveness in the global AEL operations, initiating systems manufacturing and global analytics portfolios.

Thabo Nkoane

Executive: Human Capital

Professional background: BA in Law and Psychology, an Honours degree in Industrial Psychology and a Masters in Business Leadership.

Role: Responsible for the Human Capital portfolio for AEL.

Dirk van Soelen

Executive: Technical and Compliance

Professional background: : Dirk joined the AECI group in 2002 and has a Bachelor of Engineering (Electric & Electronic) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from UCT.

Role: Responsible for AEL’s Research & Development programme, Products Portfolio, as well as Compliance including the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality portfolios.

Denvor Govender

Executive: Supply Chain

Professional background: BCom in Supply Chain Management supplemented with post graduate qualifications in Business Management and Procurement & Supply Chain. EDP - Strategic Leadership at UCT and the AECI SMDP at GIBS. Certified International Supply Chain Professional (IPSMI) and holds a MBB in Lean Six Sigma (Japan).

Role: Responsible fo AEL’s Global Supply Chain portfolio.

Jaco Human

Executive: EMEA (Europe, Middle East, rest of Africa and LATAM)

Professional background: Diploma in Management (DIM) and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Henley Business School.

Role: Responsible for leading AEL’s international growth strategy in the EMEA region.

Nigel Convey

Executive: Asia Pacific

Professional background: Graduate Diploma in Engineering from the WITS University and a BEng (HONS) Mining Engineering Associateship of the Camborne School of Mines (ACSM).

Role: Executive leadership of the AEL businesses within the Asia Pacific region.
