Underground
bulk emulsions

The Underground Bulk System technology and AEL’s initiating systems combine to optimise safety while improving blasting efficiency in a variety of mining applications. Even under the most trying blasting conditions, AEL’s proven technologies deliver tangible benefits.

This can be used for:
•Tunneling
•Stopping
•Massive ring blasting
•Open cast tabular deposits
•Pre-split
•Trenching

General Specifications of Underground Bulk Emulsions

Classification

Underground bulk emulsion explosives consist of a base emulsion and sensitiser, which are classified as non-detonable and non-explosive, respectively.

Appearance

The base emulsion is a honey coloured mixture of two immiscible liquids and an emulsifier. The sensitiser is an aqueous or emulsified liquid, which, when added to the base emulsion and mixed, creates an explosive in the blast-hole.
